Talking about the judgment of God, Jesus said that not those who say that “Lord, Lord” will enter the Kingdom of God, but only those who do the wish of God.“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)
God says if you love me, obey my commandments.“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” (John 14:15) What are the commandments He gave to Moses? “And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.” (Exodus 20:1–17)
Among the commandments was the Sabbath which was very important to God. After the Ten commandments, God later emphasized that anyone that flouted the Sabbath should be killed. “Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.” (Exodus 31:14–15)
Someone went to cut firewood on the Sabbath and was therefore stoned to death. “And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day. And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp. And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.” (Numbers 15:32–36)
The Sabbath was therefore strictly followed by Israel and even Jesus Christ. All the Apostles and early Christians carefully observed the Sabbath. “And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.” (Luke 4:16) “And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures.” (Acts 17:2) “And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.” (Acts 13:44)
Even the Popes, the first which was Peter, observed the Sabbath. All the Popes that followed Peter also observed the Sabbath up to the time when Constantine became the Roman Emperor.
He made a law on March 6th, 321 AD that no one should observe the Sabbath again, but rather observe Sunday, which was the day dedicated to the Sun god. When he made that law, even the Pope could not challenge him because he would have been killed by the Emperor. Since then, the early Christians were afraid to observe the Sabbath which was Saturday. They all changed to Sunday worship till a time all nations became independent countries. By that time no one was under the Roman rule. It was then that Prophetess Ellen G. White referred to the need to go back to the Sabbath worship, and that resulted in the establishment of the SDA church.
So, if you love God and want to obey His commandment, then you don’t have to follow the commandment of Emperor Constantine. If you die it is not the Emperor who will judge you but rather God the Creator. So if you believe what Jesus said, then you have to follow the commandment of God but not that of a fellow human being.
God says that if you flout one of the laws, you have flouted all of them. “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” (James 2:10)
The Pastors and Priests that worship on Sunday were born into the Sunday worship so they see nothing wrong with their faith. But when they die, God will use His commandments to judge them. That is why Jesus said that at the judgment day, some people will say, “Lord, I used your name to preach, healed and performed miracles.” But God will say, “Get away from me, you who commit evil.” “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:22–23)
So if the Pastor, Priest, or Bishop shall be judged with the laws of God, will you not be judged as well? If you followed that Priest or Pastor, are you sure you will be saved? That is why Jesus said that if the blind man leads a blind man, they will all fall into the ditch.“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” (Matthew 15:14)
So please, do not follow blindly. God says we should look for the old ways and follow it and be saved. “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.” (Jeremiah 6:16) The old way is the Sabbath which was followed by Israel, Jesus and the Apostles as well as the early Christians. So please follow the old way which is the narrow path but not the Sunday worship which is now the broad way with many people walking on it.
Jesus said the narrow way which leads to safety is seen and followed by only a few. “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (Matthew 7:13–14) That is what we see now. How many people, even Christians, follow the old way which is the Sabbath?
As a Christian, please consider and follow the Sabbath or narrow path which was followed by the Apostles and the early Christians including the early Roman Catholics headed by the Popes, cardinals, Bishops, Fathers, Sisters, Nuns and all members till they were forced by the Roman Emperor to change to Sunday worship instead of the Sabbath given by God the Creator. The Sunday was the day they worshiped the Sun God, so the day was dedicated to the Sun God as Sunday.
If that is so, then please consider what God gave to mankind and follow it to receive the eternal happiness promised by God. Following the Sabbath is not the only law of God. Seek a Sabbath church like THE SAVIOUR CHUSH OF GHANA which ensures that members are taught to abstain from all forms of sin as well as living a righteous life, so that after death, one could be saved to the Kingdom of God. On the other hand, if The Saviour Church of Ghana is not within reach, other Sabbath Churches like the SDA and others could be the alternative.
