Not all creation or messages are easily known by anyone. There are limitations on everything. One example is that, each one is given the opportunity to see several parts of his/her own body. Yet there is no one that could turn the head to see the back of his/her body, the forehead, the head and hairs, the ear, even the nose, the chin, nor the neck etc., no matter how strong, tall all wise the one is. Prophet Mohammed was thus asked by God to ask the people of the scripture if he needed to know or understand any scriptural messages.“And if thou (Muhammad) art in doubt concerning that which We reveal unto thee, then question those who read the Scripture (that was) before thee. Verily the truth from thy Lord hath come unto thee. So be not thou of the waverers.” (Qur’an 10:94 (Pickthall translation)) A similar instruction to the Prophet also appears as follows; “And We sent not before thee but men to whom We revealed (Our message). So ask the people of the Reminder (Scripture) if ye know not.” (Qur’an 16:43 (Pickthall))
Both verses convey the message that the messages of God are not easily understood. They imply that, to understand, one should ask those who have scriptural knowledge. The idea of consulting earlier scriptural communities for confirmation or understanding has thus been an age long process. But fortunately, by virtue of technology, information could easily be accessed through variety of sources. it is thus quite simple now for seekers to grasp the understanding of hidden truths than having to go round looking for knowledgeable people for consultation.
